This past weekend was midterm break and many students were able to go home to see family. Some students went to Nairobi to be with their guardians if home was too far away for the 4 day break. We enjoyed our midterm break by taking a new staff family with us swimming in Naivasha and eating some coconut curry, naan, and bajias at a hole in the wall restaurant on the way home. We always love opportunities to get off campus as a family during breaks! The next day we, thanks to some really good framily (friends who are like family), left our kids and went to Nairobi to stay in an airbnb for the night with some other really good friends. And we had a double date and went out to eat AT NIGHT! This was very exciting for all of us as this does not ever happen because the night-time driving is unsafe from RVA to Nairobi. And then back home to spend time with our kids and Evi finally started to walk more than crawl. Yay! All student arrived back by Tuesday evening and the next day SEW (spiritual emphasis week) began. A church team from Seattle lead worship and shared every night (Wed-Sunday) with all the students. Many students came forward to either commit their lives to Christ, re-commit their lives to Christ, or to be prayed for! Please pray for all of these kids, that they will continue to grow in their relationship with Christ, that more will continue to come to Him, and that any seeds that were planted will continue to grow. And also pray that we will be able to have good conversations with them and allow God to work through us. The very next day was Kenya's public holiday, Mashujaa Day, celebrating all national heroes,. RVA has taken this day every year to have Multicultural Day in which we celebrate all of RVA's nationalities with a flag ceremony, games, and good food. The whole school is put into groups combining all ages and they participate in lots of fun games. The titchies (elementary students) are put in a group with their "bigs" and so this year, Beau got to participate with one of his "bigs". After all the games and lunch, there is a the annual One World Race in which everyone either participates or cheers on those who do. It is very exciting and Beau, as well as half of our dorm, participated! To end the day there is the annual American football game (staff vs. senior boys) in which Dave always loves participating in. The sun sets...the cold air falls with everyone huddled in blankets cheering on their loved ones...and it feels like fall. Definitely one of everyone's favorite days of the year! The rest of this term continues to be super busy (but exciting!) so please pray for everyone to have extra energy and positivity! And enjoy the pictures below:

Ya'll. Last night was super special. Two of our dorm guys from our FIRST year at RVA, J & R, came to share with our current dorm guys. And it was so special! They shared about the importance of a personal relationship with Christ, of having a mentor, of loving your dorm brothers, saying thank you to all the national staff that work at RVA, and so much more. They shared their favorite Okapi memories and it definitely brought joyful tears to our eyes. They have grown up so much and we are so proud of them!
